Campsite Facilities
We are excited to announce our campsite now features a charcoal BBQ and a seated area for our campers to enjoy. Newly built and ready for use, it's simple to access: just pay a €50 deposit to the Community Centre Anchor Bar, and you'll receive all the necessary items for your BBQ. Please note, campers must bring their own charcoal to the island. After you have cooked up a delicious storm, please leave the BBQ as you found it. This will be checked before your deposit is refunded.
For safety, the BBQ is used at the campers' own risk. When a helicopter is scheduled to land, you are asked to extinguish the BBQ and clear the area.
Our campsite offers the following basic facilities:
Charging station
Showers (coin operated)
Drinking water tap
Toilets
Washing and drying machines (coin operated)
Please remember to bring extra coins for showers and the washing and drying facilities.
While the amenities may be basic, the location is unmatched, just a stone’s throw from the beach. The sea is your giant bathtub!
Although there is a local shop 2.5km from the campsite, we do not have a supermarket or camping supplies available on the island. We recommend campers come well-prepared to avoid any inconvenience during their stay. For food options, be sure to check out the "Eat" section for offerings during the summer months.
A few important reminders:
Please be considerate of your neighbours.
Fires are strictly prohibited on the campsite and surrounding areas.
We kindly ask that alcohol consumption is kept off the campsite.
Enjoy your stay and the beautiful surroundings!
Leave No Trace
We endeavour to follow the “Leave No Trace” ethos. Campers are encouraged to bring their rubbish home with them as all island waste is transported off the island for disposal and costs for this are very high.
We thank you for your assistance in keeping Clare Island clean and green.
NB: The coastguard helipad is located close to the Campsite. In the event of a helicopter landing or takeoff please keep a safe distance from the helipad. Retreat to inside the Community Centre building or to the beach area if safe to do so and do not approach the helipad. Please note that in the event of an emergency evacuation at night via helicopter campers may be asked to move their tents at short notice – we thank you for your assistance in this matter. Please comply with instructions for your own safety.
