Beth Moran Handweaver, formerly trading as Ballytoohey Loom, is a well established cottage industry working in the textile arts. Located on the north side of the island, last stop to the Lighthouse, you will find a treasure trove of textiles which are unique, beautifully crafted, colourful, and textural. Both weaving and spinning are on display to the visitor and you may even want to try it out yourself! Natural dying is also carried out in the workshop and a truly indigenous carpet of home grown, homespun and naturally dyed wool emerges. As well as this there is a vast array of scarves, clothing, neckties, and household textiles on offer in silk, cotton, wool and linen.
Beth Moran Handweaver makes no repeats. Everything is one off and so very personal and special. Living on the island means I am influenced by it’s landscape and this is reflected in my work. I love to work with the element of space and patterns intrigue me. The ever changing ever moving sea is a constant inspiration.
From May to September I offer courses both week long and weekend. You can check out dates on my website. These classes are limited to four people so affords a great opportunity for individual attention and I am always willing to tailor your class to your needs, whether it be spinning, natural dying, or weaving or a little bit of everything:
Weaving Courses are available throughout the year
